>> RACHEL : Hello.

My name is Rachel Riley, and I'm a big football fan.

And I present TV programmes on Sky Sports,

but I'm also a massive fan of maths.

I love maths because it's useful in everything that we do,

even football.

Now league tables are important

for tracking how each team is doing in a competition.

They list all the clubs who will be playing against each other

over the course of the season.

And the most important thing the table tells us

is how many points each team has won.

The club with the most points at the end of the season

will win the league and be crowned champions.

If your team wins games, they move up the table,

but if they lose, they may start to slide down

as other teams jump above them.

Each win is worth three points,

but clubs also get a point when they draw a match

like when the game finishes one-all.

The table helps you track how many games a club has played

as well as how many times they've won, drawn, and lost.

Sometimes at the end of the season,

more than one club finishes with the same number of points,

but we still need to decide how best to order them correctly.

We do this by looking at other information

like goal difference.

And now it's your turn

to look at the league table in detail.

What does it tell you about the teams and how they've been playing?
